What Causes Bruising Like Spot After Injecting Needle To Draw Blood?
Question: My wife had blood drawn today and now there is a half-dollar size dis colored area at the place where the needle was inserted. Looks like blood is pooling under the skin. This is more than just a small bruise which you sometime see after this procedure. Should I take her to ER to have it checked out.
Brief Answer:
Apply cold packs
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
It looks like there is a small bleed under the skin. No treatment is required for it. It is self limiting, it will settle down on its own. I recommend you to apply cold packs over it for 15 min , 3 times a day.
I must add here that this will next turn black and then purple; it will takes about 4 weeks to completely resolve
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
