What Causes Bump On The Shaft Of Penis?
Question: Hello, I've had a recent bump appear on the shaft if my penis and I'm worried about what the result could be.
Time Appeared:3 weeks ago, looked like an ingrown hair and now its a bump
Area: Only One bump
Symptoms: No pain, No itch
Color: Slight Discolor
I've setup an appointment with my doctor but it will be three weeks until then so I would like to for insight for what it could be.

It looks like a Viral Wart to me. Single raised cauliflower like growth. It is an STD caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). The lesion appears to be located at the base of the penile shaft.
I would like to gather some more information from you in order to be able to help you better.
-Do you have single or multiple sexual partners?Does any of your sexual partners has viral warts? Do you use protection during sex?

The Last sex partner I had I was wearing a condom and we stop within 15 seconds of intercourse due to something else.

Hi.
Viral warts have a variable incubation period which can be a few days OR many months after sexual encounter, therefore if a patient has had multiple sexual partners in the past, it is hard to judge where did he/she got it from? whether it was from the most recent partner or from somebody else in the past?
Anyways, you have a single wart. It is easily treatable (it is advisable to get it treated as soon as possible OR it may spread to form new lesions in the vicinity, since it is a virus!!). I usually prefer to vaporize them with CO2 Laser OR Radiofrequency cautery under local anesthesia. It would take just 5-10 mins.

This is a life changer for me and I feel almost sick to my stomach but if I clear up the wart will I be free from this?

Sorry, I was just advising you as a doctor. I did'nt meant to scare you. I think it is better that you know, what it is?
Warts as you know are caused by virus (Human Papilloma Virus). There are many types of HPV e.g Type 6, 11, 16, 18 are the most common genital types. While it is easy to get rid of the visible warts but since the virus causing it could be present in or around that area (is not visible to the naked eye), it may cause another wart either in the vicinity Or sometimes at distant sites (like hands, arms etc) spread through touching/fingers. Therefore, it is advisable to get it removed as soon as possible and hopefully you wont have another one.
General measures: Avoid shaving in this area because shaving creates minor abrasion, thus increasing the chances of contamination to the surrounding skin.
