Question: I have been told by a dr that i have prostatitis. I have taken STD test and they have come back negative. I have been on cipro for 10 days then a week later for 14 days (2x times a day 500mg). I have these bumps appear. I dont know if a reaction from medication or come be some type of fungal or bacteria. I was having pain in urethia and inflammation and burning while urinating but after taking cipro it has been less serve or gone completely. I also have had a scrotum itch. DR PLZ tell what this looks like or what it could be. Im thinking acne or fordyce spots but im still skeptical.

Brief Answer:
Fordyce spots; Maintain good hygiene

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the bumps over the penile area. It is really distressing for a man to have anything unusual on genital area.

Presently you are stressed and confused about the exact nature of the problem.

I have analyzed the picture with my best clinical acumen and let me reassure you by the most important thing that you have Fordyce spots. These are pinhead size or slightly larger bumps present over mainly over and under surface of the penis i.e. on the frenulum area.

Basically these are proliferation of the normal oil glands which are present over this area. These are totally asymptomatic (without any problem) and are most commonly confused with genital warts in there initial course of appearance. A close examination is the must to differentiate one from another.

There is no need of any treatment in this condition as it is totally normal condition. If at all some person are panicky then we do remove these with radiofrequency ablation.

As per your further problem, you have itching over groin and scrotum region. Most commonly this type itching is seen due to hygiene problem and due to stress too!!!

It is seen at the areas which are more prone for sweating or moist areas (as in your case). More specifically these are related to the hygiene and environmental factors.
Due to hot and humid climate or due to tight and synthetic clothing, it leads to irritation and then itching.

For the betterment kindly follow the suggestion below:

- Keep your self away from hot and humid climate.

- Take two times bath.

- Wear cotton clothes and cotton undergarments to be changed two times a day. Do not wear any synthetic or tight garments.

- Do cold compression or warm water compresses according to the weather condition.

- Do not sit continuously for long hours.

-I suggest my patients to take oral anti histamine like loratadine two times a day under medical advise if there is moderate to severe itching is present.

-Don't try to scratch or rub the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem.

- You can use any good antiperspirant powders daily.

- Reduce your weight if it is on higher side.

As your STD test reports are negative so reduce your stress regarding any type of Sexually transmitted diseases.

I hope these information's will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
From skin part there is nothing to be worried.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again to the forum.

If there is no history of unprotected intercourse then there is nothing to be worried about. These bumps are prominent hair roots and oil glands. These are more prominent because of mild to moderate irritation over the penile skin. This irritation could be due to scratching or touching or more manipulation of penile skin. You can take your treatment for prostatitis in accordance to your treating doctor. From dermatological part there is nothing to be worried about. You can very well relax for anything unusual on your penile skin.

I have already suggested you various measures to reduce the itching and further scaling and dryness of skin.

I hope these information's will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.
