What Causes Burning Sensation And Redness Of The Tongue While On Doxycycline Monohydrate?

Question: I've been taking Doxycycline Mono (100 mg) one a day for two weeks, prescribed by my dentist. My tongue is really red and burns a little and also looks kind of white. Is this an allergic reaction to this drug?
Brief Answer:
Can be fungal infection, needs more details..
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTH CARE MAGIC..
As per your complaint, redness and burning of tongue can be a side effect of antibiotic intake but if there is white coating also it can be probably due to fungal known as Oral Thrush..
I would like to know a few more details so that I can guide you better..
1. Do you have a dry mouth also along with the symptoms you described ?
2. Is the white layer/ coating scrappable ?
3. Since how many days are these symptoms persisting ?
4. If possible please upload an image of your tongue..You can simply upload/attach it at the reports section..
Please revert back with the answers..
Regards..
