Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Most of the symptoms mentioned by you is indicating towards UTI.
Have you done any investigation?
I would have asked for urine routine examination and based on the report I would have decided on the need of antibiotic. I usually in my clinic, treat patients of UTI with Norflox 400 mg twice daily for 3 days.
Presently I would suggest you to drink plenty of water, which will to wash off the microbes from urinary tract and also to drink cranberry juice which is found to be beneficial in UTI.
Tenderness in testicle: since when you are facing this problem?
Is it associated with any swelling?
Is there any redness? Is there any history of injury?
You have mentioned about doxycycline, when and how many days you had taken the medication?
Why the doxycycline was prescribed, was it for UTI or what diagnosis was made.
This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Sorry for late response.
The symptoms mentioned by you do occur with prostatitis, you should go with the treatment that has been suggested.
Had you undergone digital rectal exam, with this doctor will be able to evaluate whether the prostate gland is enlarged or tender. If it is enlarged, we usually go with a course of antibiotics, if it does not help, then prostate fluid analysis for signs of infection can be done.
I would not suggest you to take Novomax at present. I would recommend you to finish the course of antibiotics as prescribed and observe for improvement.
