Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Certain foods can affect the odor or appearance of the urine but would not usually cause pain during urination.
One of the most common reasons for burning and malodorous urine would be infection of the urinary tract. This can involve the kidney, liver, bladder, urethra or ureter.
In very early infection, sometimes, increasing the fluid intake to 8 to 10 glasses daily (if this can be done- heart, kidney or liver disease would prevent a person from taking increased fluids) and using cranberry products may help. However, in many cases, a course of antibiotics is required.
If the burning continues or worsens over a 24-hour-period or there are additional symptoms, then you should see your doctor for assessment which would include a physical examination and urine analysis.
I hope this helps.
