Posted on Tue, 4 Aug 2015
Question: Thank you. I am 67 years old with CV disease (triple CABAG) and multiple angioplasties. I take Plavix, Asprin (75mg) Pradaxa, and Panatrazol. Recently I have been having intense buring in both feet, unable to walk 1/2 mile to pain. H1c is normal x 3. Neurologist not sure. Is trying Lyrica 75 mg bid and Folic acid 4 mg bid. Not much help. All lab work very normal. Podiatrist of no use and has no ideas. No radiographs have been taken of my feet. Gout profile not done. Orthopedist seen because I have bilat. TKR's....also nothing.
Is this neurologic, vascular, autoimmune....?
Thanks

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

After reviewing your data I would like to suggest the following examinations to find out what is causing your symptoms:
- Radiography of both feet and toes
- Acid uric levels (gout profile)
- Echo Doppler of both feet
- MRI of spines and feet

This examinations will help to determine if your problems are related neurologic, vascular or autoimmune nature.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Dr. Shehu: Thank you for your reply. Brain & spinal MRI's were done (neg) and EMG's too...slightly abnornmal (slow conduction velocity).
Thanks for suggesting Uric acid levels to r/o Gout. Doppler and MRI's of my extremities may be helpful. I reside in Newport Beach CA, a Mecca of adv'd medicine and we are getting nowhere.

Thanks again,
