What Causes Burning Sensation In Genital Area After Urination And Lower Back Pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Jan 2016
Question: Thank you for reading my inquiry… Back on December 11, I had a slight burning sensation in my genital area after urination and an achy lower back. I went to urgent care, and they told me I did not have a UTI. After a few days the symptoms went away, but it left me with the sensation that I have to urinate all the time. I went to my GP on December 23, my office test and the urine culture were negative again. She told me to consult urology or gynecology and told me she did not know what it was. The urology practice does not have any appointments until February, gynecology is a two week wait. Can you please give me a second opinion in the meantime while I wait? I will also add that I had a complete physical on December 4-all blood work was normal. The only conditions I have are migraine and allergies.

Brief Answer:
List of all the possible causes in my opinion

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. In my opinion, all the possible causes for such a presentation include:

+Renal tract abnormalities (e.g. stones anywhere in the renal tract)
+Urinary tract infections (which were ruled out)
+Sexually transmitted infections
+Enlargement of the prostate gland in males
+Friction or irritation of the skin around the genitalia
+Stress
+Anxiety or depression
+Chronic conditions (E.g. diabetes)
+Overactive bladder (neurological and urological consultation required)
+Side effect of medications

In my opinion any one of the above conditions can cause your presentation, and if we carefully work towards ruling each condition out adequately, we should be able to find the cause for your presentation. But then again, I cannot do so with just an online consultation as I will require medical investigations to help me reach a diagnosis, so please do consult a doctor.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Thank you for your response, I can rule out prostrate issues(being female), I'm on no medication, and don't have an std, so that eliminates some. Is there anything I can do for the symptoms since I have to wait a month to see the specialist? I'm really nervous so the anxiety is making it worse.

Brief Answer:
Here are a few suggestions to help cope with the burning sensation

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Under sex it was mentioned 'Male', which is why I though you were male and listed a few causes relating to the male sex.

But for the burning sensation, you can go about the following suggestions:

+Drink plenty of water
+Cranberry juice as tolerated
+1 tbsp of baking soda in 1 glass of water, several times a day
+Syrup available in all medical stores containing 'Di Sodium Hydrogen Citrate' (1 tsp three times a day)
+Avoid sexual contact and/or masturbation completely (until I allow you to)

Please do not hesitate to write to me anytime, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
