What Causes Burning Sensation In Groin Area?

Posted on Sat, 25 Oct 2014
Question: I had sex with a girl that I met on the Internet about 3.5 months ago. A week ago I got tested for gonorhea, chlamydia, syphillus, hep b and c, hiv and everything came back negative. Sometimes it burns after I pee for a little. Recently for the last week and a half I have had some burning sensation in pelvic area/ groin area. Some intense burning bottom of scrotum, in between scrotum and anus and buttocks and some bottom side of penis. Went to a sex clinic and nurse practitioner said it looked like a tinea ( jock itch) what r chances its herpes? Never really had an outbreak. Early this summer went to Dr and I had some red shiny foreskin just below the corona( head of penis). One Dr treated as yeast, went to another treated with acyclovir for virus... Never blisters, burning or itchiness,
Need some advice? I have pics available to look at on my profile if u can access them.
Also had ultrasound down on pelvic and groin area and they said I had some reactive lymph nodes? What does that mean?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be STD manifestation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.
Your symptoms are not related to any STD. Genital Herpes also would not manifest like this without blisters and ulcers.
Burning during urination would be relieved with consuming water, when there is no urethral infection.
Itching underneath scrotum, penis, near anus and buttock were likely to be
1 Tinea
2. Seborrheic Dermatitis
3. Due to irritation of sweating.

Red shiny lesionover penis also may be due to some non-venereal skin conditions like psoriasis. Yeast is unlikely with the picture given by you.
Reactive lymph adenitis may be nonspecific or secondary scratch and infection.Nothing to worry.

Consult a Dermato venereologist. He will easily tackle the same and you will get relieved.

I get some swelling at tip of my penis almost everyday, it's not all day but it happens everyday, and red at urethral opening especially after ejaculation
What could this be? Could it be irritation? Sometimes the corona tingles and burns a little. Could it be from irritation and sweat as well it looks like there r small cracks along that ridge.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of yeast infection is there.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome once again.

There would not be any sweating inside the foreskin. So your coronal irritation and tingling might not be due to sweat. Small cracks along the edges of foreskin indicates the possibility of yeast infection. Swelling at the tip of penis also could be possible due to yeast infection. Consult a physician and confirm the diagnosis and get treated. Get well soon. Dr S.Murugan
