What Causes Burning Sensation In Nostril?
please take steam inhalation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
It is likely that the lining of your nose has been damaged by the oxygen cannula or any suction tube ( to suck out saliva) which they may have put while doing the procedure.
I would like you to apply mupirocin or t-bact ointment , to prevent any infection from occurring and use saline nasal drops , 2 drops 5-6 times a day to keep the nose moist.
You can also take in steam inhalation 2-3 times a day to reduce the congestion and open p the nose.
Please ask your doctor to prescribe an antihistaminic for you , to reduce the running nose and tab paracetamol 500 mg as and when the pain occurs.
Please dont worry , as this is a temporary phenomenon and will reduce in 3-4 days.
Take care!
Thank you for your prompt and thorough response. It is amazing such a simple thing can cause such a problem. I had no nasal issues of any kind prior to the procedure and all of this starting directly afterwards.
A few questions please:
1. How often do I apply the t-bact ointment and for how many days?
2. Do I put in the t-bact ointment first and then put in the saline nose drops?
3. Is all this clear drainage/nose running/sneezing the body's response to the nasal lining damage?
4. Am I correct that as long as I have the ointment in and I'm using the saline drops that the antihistamine won't dry things out further and make it more irritating, it will just dry up the drainage?
5. Which active ingredient is the better antihistamine choice,
Diphenhydramine HCI 25 mg or Loratadine 10mg?
Thank you, XXXXXXX
please apply the ointment 3 times a day
Detailed Answer:
Hello
You can apply the t-ointment 3 times a day and can use the saline nasal drops after applying
You can continue doing this for 5-6 days, by that time your lining will heal and you would not require to use them.
The discharge is most likely the bodies response to the damage, although i cannot confirm this for sure , and you may also have developed a cold!! either way the antihistamine will work and help you.
The antihistamine will dry up both the secretions and also the nose , that cannot be helped , but the saline nasal drops and the ointment will help reduce the irritation and will help you.
Diphenhydramine is good but causes more drowsiness and loratadine would be a better choice if you dont want to sleep to much, otherwise both are equally effective.
Take care
