What Causes Burning Sensation In Stomach While Swallowing Food?
seems to be acid peptic disease.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having burning sensation in stomach associated with abnormal odour as you swallow. I would like to ask you few more details.
Do you feel presence of regurgitated partially digested food in your throat or mouth?
Based on your clinical details, it appears to be acid peptic disease. Burning sensation in chest, pain or burning at lower end of oesophagus (starting of stomach) and odours (partially digested food) is common with acid peptic disease. I will suggest you to follow these measures to overcome your burning stomach.
1. Stop taking caffeine, tea.
2. Timely meals. Take 6 small meals instead of large 3.
3. Keep at least 3 hours interval between dinner and sleep.
4. Keep head end elevation (by supporting with pillows, to prevent regurgitation of food).
5. Regular walking.
6. Do not take spicy soar and junk foods.
7. Start over the counter PPI. Prilosec is one such kind of drug. You can take it twice a day for 2 weeks. In addition, it would also be better to use prokinetic drug like domperidone which is a prescription only drug.
8. Last but not least-stress free life style.
Symptoms does reduce/resolve with treatment. But if persists, you need ENT consultation.
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
