What Causes Burning Sensation In The Fingers While On Lamictal?
Question: Hello, I was on Lamictal 100mg with no problems. I am now taking 150mg and at night my fingers burn. only at night. Is this normal? I'm thinking of going back to 100mg. I was taking 100mg with depakote but me and my psychiatrist decided to stop depakote. I'm really worried about the burning sensation. Thank you very much.
Brief Answer:
The dose can be reduced to 125 for sometime
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM
I can understand your concern. Lamictal is known to result in paraesthesia, numbness of fingers and burning in some individuals. In most individuals tolerance to this side effect develops in about a couple of weeks. If the burning is not tolerable then you can talk with your doctor and reduce the dose to 125 mg per day. After some days the dose can be increased again to 150 mg per day.
Thanks and Take care.
