What Causes Burning Sensation In The Scrotum After Applying Polysporin?

Question: I had a spot of folliculitis on my scrotum today.

I had read online that an antibiotic ointment like polysporin would help relieve the inflammation and clear this up faster.
Shortly after i applied polysporin i had a burning sensation and the area of application on scrotum had gone very red.

Is this a normal reaction? Ive never had this happen when using polysporin in the past. What should i do to relieve the redness and burning sensation?

Thanks for the query.
You have developed an allergic reaction to polysporin.
Apply a mild steroid cream like cortisone twice daily for two days this will take care of allergic reaction.
After two days you can apply ointment mupirocine twice daily for a week.
This should help you.
