Brief Answer:
Immediate foot examination and blood sugar control

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Having burning sensation on palm and soles is considered early onset of complication of peripheral nerves in a diabetic patient. It is very very important to get evaluation for motor sensations, look for fissures and ulcers on the foot. Test some reflexes as well.

Your father blood sugar should be controlled between 100 to 125mg/dl at any time should not be fluctuating.

I suggest a thorough evaluation by his regular diabetes physician. It is very important to choose good foot wear and daily screening of toes for new ulcers.
Although there are certain medications but tight control of blood sugar is very important than anything else.

Hope this partially answers your father concerns. Please do not neglect this today.
