What Causes Burning Sensation, Tingling And Numbness In The Lower Legs?
Question: I went a walk-in clinic because of a prostate flare-up. The doctor prescribed Levaquin and I took my first dose Monday AM. Tuesday AM I was experiencing some leg discomfort so I decided no to take another dose. Tuesday PM I started feeling burning, tingling and numbness in my lower legs. I called the clinic this AM and reported my symptoms. I was told to stop the Levaquin and the doctor prescribed Cipro instead. I have not taken any yet. Do I need to take any additional action regarding the burning, tingling, and numbness in my legs?
Brief Answer:
No further action is needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed your symptoms fully and these are well known and documented side effects of levaquin. Treatment consists in stopping the drug. As this has been done, there is no need for any further medical intervention.
As you take ciprofloxacin, remember to drink much water. This would certainly help limit any potential side effects related to ciprofloxacin.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.
Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
Regards
