Brief Answer:
culture, drink much, opinion of doctor important,

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

The symptoms you describe are compatible with a urinary tract infection. It is however important to get a few things into context and consideration before taking the drugs.

It is important to know if you have recurrent infections or not. If yes, checking for diabetes, a urinary tract abnormality or a germ resistant to usual treatments need to be considered.

If this is the first time, it would be proper to get a proper urine culture sample taken first before you on antibiotics. This is important to identify the germ and possible drugs that shall be effective, in case the germ is resistant to usual anti biotics.

Quinolones, like Ciprofloxacine, taken twice daily with a total daily dose of 1000mg is usually sufficient for about seven days.

In case you have the opportunity to see a doctor, it would be thoughtful to see a doctor. If not, take the drug as prescribed and drink lots of water.

Kind regards,

Dr Bain
