What Causes Burning Sensations In The Feet When Diagnosed With Diabetes?
Question: I have the skin on the bottoms of both feet peeling off in large pieces. my feet have both have a burning numbing feeling all the time, some times more but all the time. I don't go without shoes and clean sox ever. I am a 64 yr old male and over weight about fifty lbs. This condition came on slow after a lower back surgery at L4 L5 and S1 disc replace in between 4&5 and at S1. I really don't think that has anything to do with it. I also do not have diabetes or any other chronic disorders. I have been under Doctors care for pain management and have recently taken myself off of Percocet about two months ago, no adverse effects or withdrawal symptoms. Any ideas?

Although you think the two conditions are not related, I would still like to know if your doctors have examined the feet for neural loss.
Secondly it could be a kind of yeast called Tenia Versicolor in which there is peeling or scaling of skin especially when it affects soles and palms.
An easy treatment is to take a few crystals of potassium permanganate, put them in a basin of lukewarm water, soak feet for 10 minutes, remove, dry and apply any anti fungal cream with steroid included. Repeat twice a day, and continue at least 15 days after total improvement.
If it does not show improvement in a week get the scales examined in a lab. It may give a diagnosis.
