What Causes Chest Pain Radiating To The Shoulder, Jaw And Ears?
Question: HI,
I have AFib, had a TIA a couple of years ago. I had an ablation to take care of AFlutter.
I'm on warfarin and Sotalol.
I have had 2 episodes in the last month - pretty severe chest pain, radiates to shoulder, jaw, ears. First one lasted about 2o minutes, last night it came and went for about an hour. Is this part of the AFib or should I be more concerned?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Your symptoms are not typical of atrial fibrillation.
They could indicate possible coronary artery disease.
For this reason, I would recommend going to the ER for a careful physical exam and some tests:
- a resting ECG and cardiac enzymes
- a cardiac ultrasound
- a chest X Ray study.
Further tests ( a coronary artery CT scan or a nuclear perfusion cardiac stress test) may be needed to investigate for coronary artery disease.
Hope to have been helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr.Iliri
