What Causes Chest Pain?

I am 37 year male, weighing 87 kgs, height 5ft 6 in and overweight, non smoker, non-alcoholic, vegetarian, hypertensive with diet changes to control it.
I am having mild chest pain since 10 days on left side of chest. The pain lasts for 2-3 seconds and goes away. I went to check my BP and it read 150/100. After this started using ayurvedic medicine "MuktaVati" and now the BP reads 140/90.
I do not have any other symptoms with chest pain. Yesterday I walked for 30 minutes, and after that started jogging, again felt the chest pain.I have family history of Hypertension.
Please guide me in this regard. I had master health check about 6 months back and everything was fine except Triglycerides was high...Treadmill test came fine, 2D Echo was fine, ECG was fine.
I am planning to have master health check again tomorrow. kindly guide me. Is it ok for me to take a Tread Mill Test?
Treadmill test is safe / Pain not likely to be from heart
Detailed Answer:
Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic
Reduce your weight – You are obese./ Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is 31 / (Normal weight = 18.5 - 24.9 / Overweigh = 25 - 29.9 / Obese ≥ 30)
You have to reduce the QUANTITY of your food and change the QUALITY too. It is not possible to explain or understand the nuances on a single occasion. To start with, reduce the amount to one third of what you are presently taking. Avoid all fats – they have double the energy of carbohydrates. You should see a good DIETICIAN - One generally needs SEVERAL sessions, to master concepts of calories, nutritional values, biological value, vitamins, minerals and so on.

Great to be a non-smoker, non-alcoholic vegetarian – congratulations; keep it up…
High triglyceride may be managed by Life Style changes like Diet & Exercise / at times drug like fibrate or statin.
Normal ECG, ECHO & TMT are reassuring indeed
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your pressure is still in upper limits / you need to control further
Stick to one system of medicine – do not take both, which may lead to drug interaction and side effects … There are several classes of drugs and several drugs in each class. Ask your doctor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have not said of characteristics of the pain – pain from the heart is oppressing, in central chest (and left), worse on effort, relieved by rest, may radiate to shoulders and arms, associated with sweating and so on.
YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT SUGGEST CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE (CAD). However, it is better to have a Treadmill Exercise Electrocardiogram (TMT). If it is normal, nothing to do – except to repeat annually. If in doubt, further work up is done.. Treadmill test is safe – it is routinely done before discharge of heart attack to guide the level of activity! It is done under doctor’s supervision – if there is any doubt, it will not be started at all or stopped at the point.
Good luck
God bless you
