What Causes Chronic Headaches When Diagnosed With Meniere's Disease?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Dec 2016
Question: I am a 33 yr old female who suffers with severe headaches for the last 4 years. These headaches last anywhere from a several hours to several days, usually 4 or 5 days a week. The pain is the back of my head and is a pulsing throbbing pain, that gets worse when I stand, cough, yell; or is sometimes even caused by those same things. I have had 2 MRIs which show normal except for chronic mastoiditis and sinusitis. Around the same time the headaches started my vision began to change. I now have esotropia which I did not have until I was almost 30. However, I find it odd that I have 'good days and bad days' when it comes to my eyes. Some days it will not be that bad and other days very crossed. I have had my eyes checked multiple times and have been told that it was likely always there but somehow my brain used to compensate for it. I still feel like all of my symptoms are connected though. I have been recently diagnosed with Meniere's disease for vertigo, tinnitus, loss of hearing, and an itch in my jaw/ear/throat, they also did an MRI of my ears- all was normal. I feel like it may be some kind of autoimmune disorder because around the same time I also started showing symptoms of Vitiligo, and random petechiae on my throat-which never goes away but shows up randomly. Over the last 3 months I also have to add fainting episodes to the long list of symptoms. My doctor is stumped and I know surely she thinks I'm a hypo but honestly these symptoms are getting to be very debilitating and I don't know what else to do.

Brief Answer:
Get done serum ANA level.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, we should definitely rule out connective tissue diseases (CTD) in your case.
So better to get done serum ANA level and if this is elevated then get done ANA profile to identify the type of connective tissue disease.
If you don't mind, it will be of great help if you cannot send me pictures of your skin lesions.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
