What Causes Chronic Ulcer Around The Injection Site?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Nov 2016
Question: I have a wound from repeated injections in the same site of Vitamin B and Testosterone. The wound care doctor at St. XXXXXXX Hospital in Orange was not able to heal it after 10 months. It is painful in the morning when it has to be cleaned out and dressed. I asked him if Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy might help but he seemed to feel it would not. He told me he would have to cut the area completely out and try a skin graft. I am not sure this is the best solution as he mentioned it could make things worse. What do you suggest I do next?

Brief Answer:
You can follow your doctor 's advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, you have developed chronic ulcer after injections.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy may not be useful.
The best option is to excise the entire ulcer, apply graft over raw surface.Send the excised ulcer for histopathological examination .The only negative thing that can happen is infection of the grafted portion and failure of graft. If it is taken up well, then there will be no complications.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
