What Causes Clicking And Crackling Noise In The Ears?

Question: I've been hearing a noise all day that isn't there. It's like a clicking or a crackling noise that comes in threes and fours and anywhere from every 5 seconds to 30 seconds to a minute or more in between occurrences.

Hearing a noise all day that is not there like clicking and crackling noise may be due to tinnitus.
It indicates ear problem.
Usually infection of the inner ear causes this tinnitus.
Sometimes the tube connecting the middle ear to the throat may get blocked as in eustachian catarrh and cause similar symptoms.

So you need to get your ears examined.

If ears are normal and it is not tinnitus, then hearing someting that is not there is called auditory hallucination.
