What Causes Clicking Sensation In Throat While Swallowing?
I have a clicking noise in my throat when I swallow. It is on the left side about where my thyroid is. I can feel a lump and when I push the lump in and swallow the clicking noise goes away. I was wondering what this could be? It only happens when I dry swallow. It almost feels like my thyroid is rubbing against something. No pain.

Hello.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I read carefully your query and I can understand your concern.
Considering your description it seem to be just a benign clicking. In normal individuals or when thyroid gland is enlarged ,there is a slight displacement of the larynx cartilage that can cause a clicking sensation during swallowing. This can happen all the time or only in specific position of the head.
Unless you have other symptoms (difficulty swallowing ,pain etc) it is considered harmless and it doesn't require any investigation or treatment.
You can discuss it with your treating doctor or an ENT doctor ,who will examine your throat to exclude any possible pathological cause. This just to put your mind at rest because in my opinion you have nothing to worry about.
Hope it helps.
Please feel free to ask for every question you might have.
