Question: I am having cold, cough, slight headache with low grade fever i..e 99 or 99.5 from past 10 weeks. I visited doctor and there is a xray and CBC test. in CBC WBC count is 14.6 but other things are normal. Even XRay everything is normal. Doctor prescribed the Cefadoxime 500 mg(2 times) and Levogrey -M (daily in night). Now after 4 days of taking the antibiotic, I am still feeling the same. I am not able to figure it out whether it is Sinus or Allergy or something else which need to be treated. Attached is the test report... Please help

Brief Answer:
Continue same treatment

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Your symptoms are suggestive of Viral fever only. However the rise in WBC counts proves that there is some ongoing Infection. The antibiotic Cefuroxime that has been given to you is a broad spectrum antibiotic and would probably cover respiratory tract infection and even the sinus infection in case you have.
Since you are improving , I suppose you should carry on this treatment for a total of 7 days and even if your symptoms including fever persists you would require further evaluation.
Do steam inhalation for relief from cough and congestion.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Thanks for reply but my neutrophils, Eosinophils, lymphocytes and monocytes are all normal. It means it is not an bacterial infection.. then can it be allergy or sinus.

Brief Answer:
Viral

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
See it's not necessary that there would be rise in Neutrophils, Eosinophils or lymohocytes with every infection.
Your symptoms and response to treatment means it is viral in origin.
Allergic rhinitis and allergic cough can be associated with sinus infection. So, the treatment is all the same in both the cases.
I suppose, you should carry on with the same medicines, you should get fine in next 2-3 days.
Good Luck.
