What Causes Cold Feet And Hands Despite Having A Fever?
Question: my child has tonsillitis, so we just started a course of antibiotics. Now I relise that she has cold feet and hands despite having a fever, is that ok or I should look for more advice with the doctor?
Brief Answer:
Exposed parts of the body are cooler.
Detailed Answer:
Hi thanks for writing to us,
The reason the child s hand and feet seem to be cold despite the child having fever is because , they are the uncovered parts of the body where the heat escapes easily, that s the reason you feel it colder than the rest of the body.
You should seek doctors advice if the fever is not reducing beyond three days of starting the antibiotics, if the child is extremely dull inactive and drowsy and if he child is unable to tolerate oral feeds.
