Hello,
I have studied your case and this condition can be serious. Most probably it can occur in brain hemorrhage or stroke. In this condition patient complain of sudden onset of weakness and numbness. Some time it can be due to nerve compression in foot also.
I would like to know little detail about his illness to give you proper advise.
1.Is he having weakness in leg only or same side arm is also involved?
2.Is he a Diabetic or high blood pressure patient?
3.Is he taking any medicines in the past for long time?

Brief Answer:
He may have a lacunar infarct

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is good that his weakness is limited. As you have mentioned he is taking lot of anti hypertensive drugs. I would recommend you to meet a neurologist and get him checked. He might advise you to get a CT scan. Though his current weakness is not very serious but it can be a sign of a paralytic attack.
Neurologist can advise you to to take care of his BP and a anti thrombotic drug to prevent clot in brain.
I would recommend you to meet a neurologist or a physcian as soon as possible.
Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
