What Causes Cold Sores On The Corner Of Mouth After An Oral Sex Without Protection?
I had protected sex with a women almost 6 days ago. She did however give me oral sex without protection, afterwards I saw she had herpes simplex / cold sores only 2 very small spots on the corner of her mouth. I instantly used aciclovir cream and applied it over my genital area and i also started a course of valciclovir only 1.2g twice a day. So far its been 6 days I have used the treatment and i have not had any symptoms. What are the chances of me having contracted the virus, as she had active oral herpes?

Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic. I have gone through the details.
Herpes simplex virus 1 or 2 can be transmitted by kissing or skin to skin contact or as STDs.The chances are higher if active lesions are present.
Here there is oral to genital contact. With presence of active lesions ,The chance of transmission of herpes is present. Not all contact can lead to herpes.
You can observe for 2-3 weeks. They usually appear by 2-3 weeks. Some may be asymptomatic too.Antiviral drug may help in reduction of severity if at all infected.Hope for the best.
You can go for herpes simplex HSV 1&2 antibodies testing after 3 weeks.
You can get back for any clarification.

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
You can observe for 3 weeks. There are chances of asymptomatic infection too.
The tests for herpes after 3 weeks may help .
The symptoms of eye and ear may be due to inflammation. The chances of herpes transmission to eye also can occur. It may be unlikely as your doctor has examined.
The itching in your genital area may be due to folliculitis due to shaving.Maintain hygiene. See there is no friction or irritation in the area.
You can consult a dermatologist or established laboratory in China for herpes tests.
You can get back for any clarification.
