Question: my husband is 70 years old. He woke up with cold sweats and feeling nauseous. The nauseousness is very strong and it does not go away. He has vomited very little. Prior to going to bed he took a probiotic capsule.
His hands feel clammy.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. It seems that your husband had some indigestion. That could be the cause of nausea and vomiting. Such episodes are often associated with gastritis and so giving him omeprazole 20 mg now as well as once daily before breakfast for next few days should help. Other than that over the counter antiemetics like meclizine, cyclizine, dimenhydrinate or diphenhydramine can be given. The lost water and salts need to be replenished. ORS (oral rehydration solution) is the mainstay of treatment and needs to be given.

If he does not look well, it would be a good idea to get medical attention and to visit the ER.

Regards
