What Causes Cold Sweats And Severe Vomiting After Taking Nordette?

Question: Hi doc.

I took my first dose of nordette and after a while, i started to feel really bad. Ive been having cold sweats then I vomited a lot. I'm scared of taking the 2nd dose. Should I still take it? I'm still ill from the first dose.

Can someone pls reply to me asap :( thank you

I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns.

I understand that you are using Nordette as emergency contraception.
Vomiting is its known side effect. If you have vomited within 3 hours of taking the Nordette you need to repeat the dose.
I suggest that you first take medicines for vomiting as precaution. An hour later take the Nordette. Do the same while taking the second dose.
The other option is to take ipill.

But the 12th hour has already passed for me to take the 2nd dose. When could I take it?

And when could i take other meds like paracetamol? Cause I currently have a slight fever.

If the 12th hour has already passed you need to take the doses again.
I suggest you take ipill instead, which is a single dose.

You can take paracetamol. It is not going to interfere with the emergency contraception.

But from where I'm from, Nordette is the only Oral Contraceptive available. I'm really having a difficult time with Nordette.

If I retake everything again, the hours that has been passed from the time of intercourse does not affect anything? Because currently, it has been 2 days since the incident.

Though this emergency contraception is more effective, the earlier you take, it can be taken within 5 days from the incident. So take the tablets as mentioned above. Please use medicines for vomiting 1 hour before taking Nordette.
