Posted on Sat, 2 Aug 2014
Question: I was given 18mg of morphine by a paramedic yesterday. The hospital treated me for overdose symptoms and gave me a drug to reduce the morphine. Today I feel terrible and very confused. Was this an overdose? Are my symptoms normal?

Brief Answer:
Not overdose.Give me some detail info.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for using healthcaremagic. Dr. Chintan Solanki here.
Morphine is generally given for severe pain or when person is dependent on some opioid substance.
Dose given to you is not high as sometime 30-60 mg dose may be needed according to indication.
If you given later on some anti opioid drug like naltrexone to reduce effect, possibility of sudden opioid withdrawal and you are feeling terrible.
No need to worry as it is not overdose.
I want to know from you," why morphine given to you? and which symptoms you felt in detail"
Hope I have answered your query.
For any other information, late me know.
Thanks and regards.
