Posted on Tue, 21 Nov 2017
Question: I had blood tests, lipid panel, a colonoscopy. All normal. I have a constant stomach ache, headache and sleep a lot. I am usually ok until I eat food. I have not missed work, never do, but wake up feeling optimistic and feel lousier as the day goes on. Am afraid to eat sa it upsets my stomac, who should I see? This has gone on for a month, hence all of the tests. Please help. XXXXXXX I also seem to often have a low grade fever

Brief Answer:
gastrointestinal investigation is probably required

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

if you only have symptoms when you eat then there are various possibilities. A common one is stomach ulcer which presents with pain almost immediately after eating. Pain that occurs a little later (half an hour or so after eating may be present in vascular diseases of the intestine. Reduced blood flow to the intestines when the need for blood is high (after eating that is) may result in pain that discourages the patient to eat. A gastroenterologist is the right specialist to investigate such symptoms.

Regarding the rest of your symptoms they're kind of vague. You should determine whether fever is present or not and how high by measuring the temperature at least a couple of times per day (morning and evening) for at least 3 consecutive days.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind Regards!
