What Causes Constant Cough With Green Mucos?

Question: Hi there
I firstly want to state I have been diagnosed with anxiety.
Around 3 weeks ago I got a very bad cold but didn't think anything of it.
I got a really bad cough and was constantly coughing up green mucos.
I went to my doctors a week ago and he put me on antibiotics but he also did my peak flow reading and it was 440 and said It was low and gave me an inhaler.
I don't know if it's due to a chest infection but I have been on these antibiotics for 5 days now and my chest ache it's not like pain but the top of my back aches too also I feel like I can't take a deep breath and it's causing me to worry.
I went to the hospital had an ecg all my obs and blood pressure was fine and they told me to rest but I am convinced it's something bad

Brief Answer:
Pneumonia...
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting.
I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.
Your symptoms are related to Pneumonia. Pneumonia is lung inflammation caused by bacterial infection.
People with Pneumonia have productive cough, chest pain, shortness of breath and fever.
You have coughed up green mucus due to Pneumonia.
Peak flow reading was also low due to Pneumonia.
To confirm the diagnosis for Pneumonia you need:
1. Chest X-Ray.
2. Sputum culture.
3. Complete blood count.
4. Urine test.
In the end of the tests your pulmonologist will be able to give a treatment for Pneumonia.
The treatment will contain antibiotic medicines.
Ask me for anything unclear.
All the best.
Dr. Behar.

Brief Answer:
Post-viral fatigue syndrome...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
Symptoms that you refer show that you have been affected by a viral infection of respiratory tract.
If you say that the results of tests are normal then the possibility is that you suffer from Post-viral fatigue syndrome.
Symptoms of Post-viral fatigue syndrome are: fatigue, muscle ache, mood disturbance and shortness of breath.
This syndrome can last up to 6 months, but from time to time blood samples must be taken and tested to rule out other conditions which may be causing such symptoms.
To relieve pain you can take painkillers.
If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer.
Wish you good health.
