What Causes Constant Fever Despite Taking Medication?

Question: I am a 72 year old female who had a Prevnar 13 vaccination at 10:30 am yesterday at my Doc's office. Developed allergic reaction that literature states only 1% of people getting vaccine have gotten .Fever of 100 chills,body aches. Took Tylenol and 50mgms Benadryl last night. slept all night and felt better this am. Fever going up again. Should I just continue with previous drugs?

I appreciate your concern

Yes, you should continue tylenol 500 mg , 2 tabs thrice a day and benadryl 25 mg od or bd depending upon severity. If the allergy worsens during this time then steroids like dexamethasone along with antihistamines can be advised in consultation with your doctor. For now continue the medication for at least 3 days. After this the benadryl can be replaced by non sedating anti histamines and the tylenol dose can be lowered.
