What Causes Constant Low Grade Nausea?
Question: I have been experiencing low grade nausea most days for more than a year. It is generally relieved by passing gas. It is made worse by the consumption of wine (worst). I also have a metallic taste in my mouth that corresponds to when the nausea began. It may not be related to the time I started on Butran Patches for pain management (15). Appetite it normal. Energy levels are generally okay. Live high stress job (CEO). History of stomach ulcers (endoscopy in my 30's and confirmed). Treated with omeprazole. Success . Treated for GERD (balloon therapy). Occasional night time aspiration of food if I eat too much and am lying on my side. My sister and son had ulcerative colitis (son had colon removed).

Based on your description it appears you have a severe and resistant case of GERD. In my clinical experience with patients combination high dose therapy usually yields much better results than one or two agents. Esomeprazole at XXXXXXX dose i.e 40 mg twice a day along with metoclopramide, sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate can be started for two weeks to see for empiric improvement. The dose can subsequently be maintained at a lower level. If there is no response to the above and the symptoms persist then I would suggest you get your blood counts and metabolic profile done in consultation with your doctor.
