Posted on Wed, 14 May 2014
Question: I have MS and lately I have been in constant lower abdominal pain especially since have an ablation XXXXXXX in December. Doctors tell me they are just muscle spas ism and I can't not seem to wrap my head around that because it doesn't feel that way. Any ideas of what type of doctor to seek?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to electrolyte imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

The pain in the lower abdomen that you have is not related to ablation procedure.

The muscle spasms are not persistent unless there is a nerve related pathology present. Sometimes, it can be due to dehydration, muscle fatigue or electrolyte abnormalities. It is better to drink sufficient fluid and also see that your intake of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium ) is sufficient. You can drink Oralyte for this.

In case the pain is persistent then do consult your gynecologist and a neurophysician for a detailed evaluation.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
