What Causes Constant Mild Pain In Ears?

Question: My Query to Dr XXXXXXX Heijebu only
Hi Dr XXXXXXX
For the past 1 week, I experience very mild pain in my both ears. And now when I walk fast, the breeze which enters into my ears, is making some vibration in my ear drum. I also cleaned my ears with ear buds. There is only little wax inside. But feel comfortable for a while ,if i clear it with ear buds. I have a very negligible cold.
Is there any infection in my ears? Do I need to use any ear drops? If so pls suggest any over the counter medicine. Otherwise give me some tips.
Thanks,
XXXX.

Brief Answer:
Probable impacted wax in the ear.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam,

I understand your concern.

The possibility of ear infection is less likely in your case.

Your symptoms are suggestive of either impacted wax or meatal stenosis leading to block the ear canal thereby causing pressure changes.

So I advise you to get an otoscopic examination and aural toileting by consulting an ENT surgeon to differentiate the above.

Meanwhile I advise you to use dewax ear drops twice daily for 5 days.

NOTE:These drops should not be taken if there is any history of Tympanic membrane perforation.

Please follow the below instructions:

1.Avoid exposure to cold air and use cotton plugs.

2.Gentle ear washes with warm water and drying your ear with a soft towel immediately.

3.Don’t use any pointed objects inside the ears as it can cause ear infection while pushing the wax deeper.

4.Avoid excess picking with ear buds.

5.Avoid pouring hot oil, acidic liquid, hydrogen peroxide or glycerine

5.Avoid consumption of dairy products.

6.Omega 3 fatty acids are good for mitigating the problem of ear wax.
So, include walnuts, avocados, salmon, albacore and ground flax seed in your diet.

Post your further queries if any,

Thank you.
