Brief Answer:
you may be having an ear infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
From your complaints it looks like that you may be having an ear infection and swelling below the ear may be a swollen and infected lymph node.
I would like you to put ciprofloxacin ear drops , 2 drops 4-5 times a day and take tablet paracetamol 500 mg 2-3 times a day for the pain.
Please do not let water enter the ear and do not use any ear buds to probe the ear as this will worsen the infection and increase the pain.
If the pain increases , or your hearing decreases or ear discharge starts , please meet your ent doctor for examination and advice.
Thanks and take care!

Thanks a lot sir. I was using buds uptill now, but won't do it anymore. Plus, this has started with right ear too now. So I should do it for right ear too I guess? Plus now the swelling has decreased a little but my mouth remains very dry and I have to keep on drinking water for it. A friend of mine faced these problems recently, his diagnosis came out to be salivary gland infection because of the dehydration. Is this can be one of the cause for me too. As I have recently moved to XXXXXXX and there is a drastic change in the climatic conditions.

Brief Answer:
it can be a salivary gland infection!
Detailed Answer:
Hello
The area below the ear has a salivary gland called parotid and this can get infected when a person is dehydrated , although this is very rare and it is more likely that the pain may be due to an ear infection. However as a precautionary measure , drink more water ( not cold drinks or tea!!)
If you are having pain in the other ear also , then you can put the drops in it too and continue the medications.
it is a good thing that you have stopped using ear buds and i would like to continue the same!
wishing you good health!
take care
