What Causes Constant Pain In The Left Shoulder Blade?
Question: Hello, I have been dealin with an intense constant pain in my left shoulder blade, the area where my upper arm connects to my shoulder and in my upper left arm. Its in my joints but also in my bicep. It feels like I have pulled a muscle when I try to lift my left arm over my head and I often have to use my Right arm to push my arm up past that point where the pain really sets in when I lift it. Any idea what this pain could be as it almost unbearable!
Brief Answer:
Hot compress should help. Can also take prescription muscle relaxants.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.
The pain is more likely to be due to muscle spasm and hot compress should provide relief. However, you need to be examined clinically. An X ray of the cervical spine might also be required since nerve compression might be involved. Based on the findings you can be referred to a physical therapist who can demonstrate to you the appropriate exercises which would help you improve the situation.
