default
Posted on Thu, 23 Mar 2017
Question: my son is having constant pain in his left upper arm. the pain started this morning and came out of nowhere. I took him to urgent care and they took xray that showed nothing.
I give him ibuprofen and that seems to help for a bit. is there something I can be missing? my son is 8 by the way.

Brief Answer:
Need to rule out nerve compression, tumors, malingering

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

There are many possible causes for this pain.

It would be helpful if you could tell me if he has tingling or numbness radiating from the back of the neck to the arm, any weakness of the fingers, difficulty in lifting weight or pain worse at night or rest.

Do upload the Xray for my review.

Do continue Ibuprofen for a total of 5 days. Apply warm packs to the affected region. Avoid painful maneuvers.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
