What Causes Continuous Mild Stomach Pain Along With High Cholesterol Levels?

Question: I am having continuous mild stomach pain/discomfort. I went to doctor a week back. I had USG for abdomen and it showed mild hepatomegaly having liver size of 149mm. Some other test like LFT, RFT, blood test and urine test showed everything normal, though there was increased blood cholestrol level. Further 2d echo test of heart showed concentric LV hypertrophy. But later cardiologist refuted that since septum is 12mm, report is not factually correct. Rest 2D echo was also normal. Doctor advised antibiotic and antacid for stomach and further said to have regular morning walk and reduce oil intake. However even after having 5 day course of antibiotic still mild stomach pain continues and stomach seems stretched and discomfort is there. Further constipation is also there. Please suggest

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

You need to take antacids such as proton pump inhibitors (PPI) like pantoprazole,rabeprazole for a longer period, say for 08 weeks.
Life style modification like low fat diet regular exercise preferably aerobic exercise say brisk walking for 30 minutes at least 5 days a week is needed to reduce cholesterol levels apart from drugs

But there is continuos pain, can it not be any other disease. Stomach also remain stretched, it appears always full ,gas is also there and what about mild hepatemogaly concentric LVH. Please reply in detail.

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Concentric LVH is usually due to hypertension . Mild hepatomegaly has many causes but commonly due to fatty liver , a lifestyle disease,since you have high cholesterol.
Your constant feeling of stomach stretching and gas is likely to be due to peptic dyspepsia,acidity etc. I feel antacids like proton pump inhibitors/PPIs (such as pantoprazole,rabeprazole ) may be beneficial.
