Question: following icd replacement surgery I have noticed a tendency to clear my throat (slight cough) often. it has begun to irritate my throat and possibly my bronchial tubes. also I take a coreg pill twice a day and a statin drug and fish oil and ramipril 2.5. I have no swelling and at the time of surgery a 45 ef. do you anything here that might cause the cough?
it has been 3 months. 3 post surgery lung x-rays were taken and oxygen was placed for a few hours to "push the air out of my chest cavity". pneumothorax? I,m 62.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of bronchitis is more.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, by your history and description, possibility of pneumothorax is more for your ICD insertion 3 months back.
Bronchitis is commonly seen after healing of lung conditions like pneumothorax.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis. It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
So currently you are mostly having bronchitis due to previous likely pneumothorax.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
