What Causes Cough, Chest And Nasal Congestion Despite Being On Mucinex?
Question: I have had a lingering cough, chest congestion, nasal congestion. I blow my nose, but no mucus or colored snot comes out. I lean forward the cough does not persist, but sitting up right or leaning back makes cough worse. I have been taking mucinex dm extra strength 12hr and about halfway through a 40 pill pack.

In my opinion, we should definitely rule out lung infection (pneumonia) for your symptoms.
Another possibility is bronchitis.

PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
