Posted on Sat, 26 Apr 2014
Question: My 5 year old son has had a cough, congestion, and runny nose for 3 weeks no fever. I have been giving him mucinex and it didn't seem to work. He also suffers from bad allergies which I have been giving him claritin and eye drops for. What else can I give him to get him back to himself?

Brief Answer: Get him clinically examined and investigated. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, I would like to advise that you should get him clinically examined and investigated. Auscultation of chest will help to know whether there is broncho constriction. Following investigations may be helpful :- 1. Complete Blood Count ( CBC ). 2. Throat swab culture. 3. Chest X - Ray PA view. Antibiotic may be needed if the reports indicate infection. A bronchodilator may help if bronchitis is present. I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help. Thanks.
