What Causes Cough, Running Nose, Nausea, Chills And Fever?
Can be viral fever.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your husband's problem can be most likely Viral fever. Increasing temperature and chills are possible. Avoid Ibuprofen (Advil) as in some viral fevers it causes decreasing platelet count.
You can give paracetamol for fever and body pain , ranitidine (Zantac) to decrease gastric irritation and nausea and anti histamines like cetirizine.
Taking chewable vitamin C , warm fluids like tea with lemon and honey , warmchicken soup with pepper etc is good. Give more fluids as there will be more loss of fluids from body.
If it is already 3 days then go for blood routine , platelet count and urine routine tests to rule out viral haemorrhagic fevers and possibility of other infections.
Viral fevers - initially 3 days there will be high fever after that it will reduce. 5 to 7 days rest is advised. In case of any secondary bacterial infection there will be rise or persisting fever and in such case antibiotics will be required.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
