Brief Answer:
Medication for next two days.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The infectious process is on. It could be virus or bacteria may be allergic too. Your doctor did the right thing by putting you on some antibiotic. It is been just three days and I think you should take them for four more days. Also I guess you are not adequately been treated for cough. You need a strong medication to address cough. If the cough subsides the redness in the eyes does not appear again so is the sore chest. You will be exhausted and dehydrated soon. Go back to your doctor for appropriate cough medication. There are varieties of cough medication and I am not sure what it hears when we put a stethoscope on and listen to the chest. So the cough medication depends on the sounds we hear.

You should rely on some home remedies like 2 Table spoon of honey each time you have bout of cough. Put honey on your tongue and let it drip into the throat drop by drop. This soothens the throat and thus helps minimize cough. You can do it any number of times. Also tender coconut water works well for such situations.

If you have any other medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease, asthma it is better to see a specialist if the problem does not resolve in next two days.

Hope this helps.
