What Causes Coughing Up Of Solid Yellow Crumbs When I Have A History Of Chronic Persistent Cough?
Question: Am a 60 year old female. Have a history of a chronic persistant caugh. It is often difficult to stop caughing once it gets started. Ricola caugh drops help for a while. Had hystoplasmosis as a child. Caugh is croupy sounding and deep. Past few months have been caughing up small solid pieces from lungs. One or two pieces when it happens. About the size of a large peppercorn and tan/yellowish in color. Is not as solid as a rock. Is like a hard crumb that can be flattened when squeezed. Any ideas?
Brief Answer:
Bronchoscopy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
According to the history this not seems like a serious situation. That pieces may come from the throat. However if you were my patient to be sure i would recommend you to do a bronchoscopy examination to evaluate the airways better.
I hope to have been helpful. Feel free to ask me again.
