What Causes Curved Red Skin In Stool After Endoscopic Removal Of Colorectal Polyps?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: I just had endoscopic check of stomach and intestine on XXXXXXX 2, 2015. Found 2 colorectal polyps and doctor already removed them. Now occasionally I found curved red skin (red, not dark red) like stuff in stool. Like I ate a chewy granola bar yesterday and this morning a very small amount of that curved red skin appeared inside the stool. I had to dissect it to find this out. Is it normal? Now I became a very nervous "Stool examiner".
BTW, the chewy bar I ate yesterday contains some cranberries

Brief Answer:
Stool colour depends on the food.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
The colour of the stool is dependent on the food you take.
As per your description, the colour of the stool is due to the food that you have taken yesterday.
Nothing to worry.
If it is blood, then you have to get examined clinically by a Doctor.
Please take high fiber diet, drink plenty of liquids and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

Just want to clarify, the color of the stool was always normal. It was inside the stool that had curved red skin. Is your answer still the same after I added the above statement? And how come sometimes I can digest the tomato skin or cranberries without the red skin in stool but sometimes I cannot? What makes it happen?

Moreover, since I've endoscopic check of stomach and intestine in XXXXXXX 2, 2015 and removed 2 colorectal polyps. My doctor wants me to have another endoscopic check by end of this year? Will the schedule be too late as I am worried that it would turn into cancer.

Many thanks.

Brief Answer:
It depends on your chewing.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!
The content of the stool depends on the food you consume and the amount of chewing the food.
If you had chewed it completely,it might not have appeared in your stool.
As the stool is soft, and it is admixed with it, there is nothing to worry.
As the polyps were removed, you need not worry about them either.
Please undergo a routine check up.
It isn't too late. You can get examined as per your routine schedule.
I hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you a very good health.
Regards.
