What Causes Cuts Around Vaginal Opening And Excessive Vaginal Discharge?
Question: i have small cuts around the opening to my vagina, i have been told that i don't have thrush because a sample came back negative. however i do get an excessive amount of discharge and it is always very itchy. these cuts are getting very painful now. what is it and what should i do??

There are a few possibilities of what may be causing cuts at the vaginal opening.
One of them is thrush... I do not know how long ago you had a vaginal culture, but the Caneston is an external product and if you do have thrush, you need to use an internal cream or suppository to clear the infection completely.
Other skin conditions can make the skin at the vaginal opening dry and very itchy. One of these is called Lichen Sclerosis. Usually this condition makes the skin around ten cuts very thin white and dry. Treatment for this is a topical steroid cream.
A third possibility, depending on your sexual history, is genital herpes. Many people think herpes always causes sores, but some women get cuts that keep coming back in the same place.
What I recommend you do in your case is trying a product for thrush- either a vaginal cream or suppository (you can use the Ceneston for the outside) or oral Fluconazole, which is a one tablet treatment which will cure a yeast infection in 7 days, and see how you feel. If you don't feel better, I recommend you go to see a GYN doctor. They would be able to culture the area for herpes (or do a blood test) or if the area looks like a skin condition, do a skin biopsy.
Until you have a diagnosis I recommend not having sex or putting anything inside the vagina (except cream).

Thank you for this. I found a spot there today which is just like acne spots I get on my face, filled with pus. I have looked online and a lot of people suggest washing the whole vaginal area thoroughly with plain water twice a day. Would you recommend this?

But again, I am concerned that the pus-filled bumps may actually be herpes sores... A thrush infection would not cause any kind of bumps to form.
I really think you should be examined by a gynecologist especially while the bump is there as if it is a herpes sore it can be cultured and you can get an accurate diagnosis. In the US, 90 percent of people with herpes do not know they have it because they think it is something else.
But you should wash your vaginal area daily, and it is OK to use soap as long as it doesn't sting.

Thank you for that, i will certainly do that. I haven't ever had sex so can it be Herpes? I will look to getting further investigations.
