Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: Small cyst on tonsil. Could it be causedfrom dental work? I had three extractions, two were my upper canine teeth, plus three crown preps. A week later, i noticed a cyst on my tonsil. Is there any connection?

Brief Answer:
No direct relation, infection needs to be excluded

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

As such there is no direct connection between tonsils cyst and tooth extraction.

Tonsils are not easily visible unless it was examined by a professional. If you are able to notice cysts on tonsil, may be they are enlarged and inflammed too. In such cases, the cysts that you see could be related to inflammed tonsils which commonly occur following an infection. Therefore I will recommend you see an ENT specialist in this respect. Dental work is unlikely the cause.
