
What Causes Dark Brown Discoloration Of Stool Post An Appendectomy?

Question: Hi! My name is Ana and I am 29 years old and 4 days ago I had my appendix removed and when I make part of my stool is dark brown. Is this normal?

This is not worrying since it takes some time till digestion stabilize after appendectomy so just be patient. usually it takes 4 weeks. try to eat easier food,more fluids and rest. avoid alcohol, fried food and fats. Wish you good health. Regards

I'm still worried because the Doctor the answer before you says it might be internal bleeding. Is it possible that the antibiotics that I am taking is what's causing this?

antibiotics may cause it as well definitely but internal bleeding is not likely to happen after appendectomy since you would have some other symptoms such as blood trace in your stool.
it may be stomach ulcer bleeding but you would have pain in epigastrium in this case.
So I dont think you should be concerned if those signs are not present.
